Pls help. Bluetooth discovery problem

Steve

Hello all,

I am trying to get my acer laptop to 'discover' my nokia 6230i cell but when
i check the box "Turn discovery on" in Bluetooth devices options, it
helpfully comes with the error "An error occurred while Windows was saving
your settings. The following settings were not saved: Discoverability
settings, Connection settings".

I have noticed several other end-users with the same problem using various
other device combinations, but no solutions. Microsoft knowledgebase does
not make reference to this particular problem (that I can see anyway), so
the bluetooth troubleshooting section is no help whatsoever.

Please help me out.

Hi Steve – did you ever figure out the problem with your detection /
connectivity settings? Only I have exactly the same error message and it’s
driving me nuts! Hope you can help, you are my last hope……..!

Wow, Katie. Things are pretty desperate when i am someone's last hope! I
have looked everywhere on the web for possible solutions to this problem but
only the usual advice is offered - reinstall drivers, check the microsoft
site etc. etc. I've been fiddling around with it for a while but it's no
use. It's such an irritating error cos it's so non-specific but i'll keep
trying. What hdw are you trying to connect?

This is now resolved. I discovered that even though the laptop was
purchased under the impression that it had bluetooth technology inbuilt,
this is merely an optional extra. I.e. even though there is a bluetooth
slot, the card is not installed.

I have gone with the cable option which is much cheaper.
