Plotting Problems

I'm using Excel 2002 on an NT 4.0 system. When I copy numbers from an older
version of Excel(95 or 97?), the numbers pasted are incorrect. Any ideas on
why this is happening and ways to fix it? Thanks in advance,

Hi Gord,
Wasn't sure how to insert right into your reply(can you let me know that
trick?)
Anyway, clarification on the insertion(I'm getting this 2nd hand), the
person is trying to copy an equation into several cells. Some of the cells
take the equation, while others are substituting text. He has gone to
Format/cells and made sure the category is General.

Here's some more info. from the user having the
problem. Hope this makes things a little clearer:

The problem is not copy. It is the "=" sign. For example, if I type "=A5" in
c5 cell, it will appear "=A5" in c5 cell.
Some other cells, it recognized the "=" sign for equation, but some were
not. All the cells are General type.

The "insert description here" meant give us more details of the problem. Not
to be taken literally.

I would suggest that some of the cells/formulas are being read as text by
Excel.

For individual cells, format to General then F2 and <ENTER> to re-enter the
formula.

To do a great whack at a time.........

Select all cells, Format as General and Edit>Replace

What: =
With: =

Replace All.

Usually forces them into real formulas.

Hi Gord,
Both suggestions work. Looks like the problem is that after the user enters
the formula, the cell default's to Text format (even after he formats it to
general). After correction (back to general), I have to re-enter the formula.
