Hi

If you can't open System Restore 'normally' try the following from
Start>Run:

%SystemRoot%\system32\restore\rstrui.exe

thanks Fridrik.

Go to the following website, look for the "EXE file association fix" and
click that link to download the zip file. Unzip the file and double click
the "exe_xp_fix.reg" file to merge into the registry. This will restore the
default exe file association.

That file should have fixed the problem. There may be a virus involved with
this problem. Run a complete virus scan of the system with your anti-virus
program and make sure that the virus definition files are up to date.

Post back here with the results.

Hi Ronnie!

I have run my AVG anti-virus program and it is up to date, but it found no
virus.
I have run my Ad-Aware Se Personal program and it found virus
"Java/ByteVerify" in the folder Documents and settings.
Is it possible to run online virus-scan to terminate this virus?

Best regards, Fridrik.

Yes. Here are some popular links to online virus scans.

Trend:

F-Secure:

Panda:

Hi Ronnie!
Thanks for your help. I have run antivirusscan from Trend and Panda, but it
found only "Java/ByteVerify" in my system and clean it out , so it look like
it's not a virus or what do you think?.

Best thanks, Fridrik.
