When i am using the Format() function in a query e.g
Format([Date], "mmmm") i get this error
message "undefined function 'format' in expression. I
think it might be something to do with missing library
files if so how can i resolve this!!!

Hi,

Indeed, try to uncheck the reference already checked with the word MISSING
in its description. ( from the IDE menu: Tools | References... )

Hoping it may help

Most of the folks who post here want help with something. Shouting
PLEASE HELP!!! in the Subject will *not* get you a faster or a better
answer, and it gets a bit annoying after a few years. Please post a
meaningful subject line such as "Undefined function FORMAT?"

This appears to be the very common References bug. Open any
module in design view, or open the VBA editor by typing
Ctrl-G. Select Tools... References from the menu. One of the
..DLL files required by Access will probably be marked
MISSING. Uncheck it, recheck it, close and open Access.

If none are MISSING, check any reference; close and open
Access; then uncheck it again. This will force Access to
relink the libraries.
