Please help with corrupted database

A

Al

I have an access xp database. I started getting
a "database needs to be repaired or isn't a database file.
you or another user may have unexpectedly quit microsoft
access while a microsoft access database was open...."
message. We had no problems in the database. this just
started to happend today. some of the users will get this
message and some won't.If someone tried to open the db and
got this message then everyone after him that tries to
open the db gets the same message. However, the users that
were already in the db have no problems. I repaired the db
and replaced the corrupted one but after few minutes
started to get the same problem. I imported the master
design db into a new one, used the new jetcomp4.0 to
compact the newly imported db and then made a new mde and
put it back on the network. we started opening the
database with no problems but then some of the users
started experiencing the problem again. any ideas
thanks
Al

Al,

I experienced the same problems a month or two ago (on
Access 2000). It was really causing problems for our
system.

The solution in my case was to make a patch to the file
server where our MDB file resided. The difference was
night versus day for us. The problem is called
the "Opportunistic locking" problem. That may or may not
be your problem. Many things can cause database
corruption.

Take a look at the MS Knowledge base article 209137 and
