Please help - SoBig virus

Jenny

Recently I have been receiving hundreds of email contents virus SoBig.

I have done all the virus scan and removed the virus successfully and I also
run McAfee Stinger and make sure there is no virus in my pc. I also have
ZoneAlarm and Spy Sweeper on my pc. On top of that I have set a rule in my
outlook express as: when any subject line contains Details, or Approved or
My details or thank you, that movie, or wicked screensaver or your
application - Delete from server.

However, I suspect my email address is still using by SoBig to send email
because I received few returned emails that some email cannot be sent out.
Actually I have never sent these email messages out to those email
addresses. The returned email attachment has the virus SoBig. Can anyone
here tell what I should do and how I stop this happen again.

Thanks.

Use a ISP that blocks malicious email attackments (and spam).

SoBig spoofs your address as sender when sent from an infected computer. So
if you have taken the measures you mention most likely you are not infected,
but someone with your address in their address book is. But since yours is
the address in the header returned mail is sent to you.

It is a nasty trick that causes lots of anxiety and probably has broken a
few friendships...
