Please Help!!!! Recovering records

I needed to move 4,653 exported records into another database which left
about 2,000 records in the database that aren't exported yet. To do this I
made a new folder and copied the database in that new folder. I did a query
in the copied database that would show only the exported records to make sure
I was doing it right. It worked fine. So I decided I needed to delete all
the records in the copied database so I could go into the original database
and export all the previous exported records into the copied database. But
after I deleted the records in the copied database and went into the original
database which is in a different folder, all of those records were gone. Now
I have no records. I thought that like other files and folders that if you
put it in another folder and deleted the records the records of the original
database would still be there. Is there any way to recover my records.
PLEASE HELP!!!
So scared :(

Before you start, do you have any backups you can recover any portion of the
data from?

First, do you have a way (other than using the .mdbs in question) to confirm
that the data is gone?

Second, depending on your circumstances and what you've already done, the
following Knowledge Base article at Microsoft.com may be of help:

KB209874 - Recovering deleted tables...

Third, and maybe only for future information, if your "new" .mdb file only
contains links, a copy of it will contain (the same) links. If you delete
from one copy, it's gone.

Finally, if none of the above are applicable, and if the cost to reconstruct
what you had is high, you might be able (might, might, might) to have
deleted material recovered from your hard drive. It can be costly, and is
not necessarily guaranteed.

Good luck!

Thank you so much for your quick reply. My IT guy is trying to see if it is
on the backup. It looks like if it isn't on the backup then it is gone. But
I will check out the article you suggested. I found out from the IT guy that
I copied the front end database which kept it linked. I should have copied
the back end database. We do have the records on a former back up of the
system up to 10/20/05. So we will only lose the records for about 1 month.
I still hope he can recover all the records. I guess he was in the process
of doing the backup this morning and it hadn't completed when I did the copy.
So when that backup process is complete he will check to see if the missing
records are in that. Thanks so much for your help.
