One of my laptops has a Windows Media Center Edition which has shown some
problems in its initialization. Trying to reinstall it, I am using my Windows
XP Professional Ed. But the initialization process didn’t recognized my
Product Key. Is there a conflict between both versions?

Product keys are specific for each version of XP, you need to use the key
for your version of XPMCE

Yes. You must use your Media Center installation or system recovery
CD with your Media Center product key.

Product keys and CDs must be from the same edition, same version, and
same language.

Same product key works with different languages. But edition must be the
same.
