Please Help! personalizing a form letter

M

Matt Porter

I need to make a letter that is in fact a form letter, but should appear
like a personal letter. I need to know if it is possible to design the
letter to be a template where a person's name could be typed in once yet
appear several times throughout the letter. Can I use several names? (Ex.
Your "location" is very convenient for "person's name" to stop by and visit
with "person #2" at "time". Will "person #2" be in "location" at "time"?)
As I have to write hundreds of these letters, you can well imagine my desire
to find a shortcut.
Also, is it possible to create a input sheet for information that could then
be automatically exported to other Word pages. For example: I input the
prospective customer's name, address, and phone number as well as the
product they are interested in. The program then automatically exports the
information to my personalized form letter (Ex.: Dear John Smith, I am
writing you John because...), a quote sheet (Ex.: John, product X will help
you ...), and the mailing envelope. Hit print and the printer spits it all
out ready to go.
I am clearly new at this so please be gentle and assume I know nothing about
Word. You won't be far wrong.

(All help is greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.)
