Please help asap

Hi
Please help me with my problem.
I downloaded a movie and after it completed download, i
wanted to watch it but it didnt change from .dat format,
how do i get it into .mpeg or .avi so i can watch it on
media player? ive tryed to rename it movie.avi, movie.mpeg
but that didnt do the job, please help me how to change
it into a format that media player will read it.

Check with the person who you got it from to find out what it is.

Ivan,

You may have to redownload it, I've had that happen to me too and that's the
only way I've resolved it. Renaming the file extension does not always work
and can actually cause other problems.
