I need to play songs from my Ipod through my PC speakers. I connect the
Ipod to the PC in-line/microphone, press play but don't hear anything.
I use XP's sound recorder to test it, and I can record songs and play
them fine.

My question is what settings must I change to be able to play the Ipod
through the speakers, as if the Ipod were playing normally through
ITunes??

I realise I can do it with Itunes but I need to test it the other way
as well.

Thanks for any help!!

In theory the headphones socket of your iPöd to the line in of your
soundcard should work. However, don't forget to select "Line In" as the
source of playback, make sure the slider isn't at zero and also make sure
line in isn't muted.

try making sure your line in / mic setting is not muted... double click the
volume control and if its not there click options then properties and click
line in / mic then make sure the mute box is unclicked and turned up! should
work.

I might actually try this! as Itunes really slows down my PC and as im
running my PC through my hifi with 100 watt speakers, it would be great to
listen to my ipod on them!
