Pivottable with mulyiple input ranges

Is anyone familiar with the fact that creating a Pivottable with mulyiple
input ranges in Excel 2003 leads to a crash of the program?
Who has suggestions on how to solve this crash?

I've created many pivot tables in Excel 2003, using multiple
consolidation ranges, without problems.
At what step in the process does the crash occur?
Are the ranges all in the same Excel workbook?
