Pivot Table Chart no longer works with Office:MAC 2008

I have recently upgraded to Office:MAC 2008 and my pivot table chart has
stopped working. The pivot table is updated automatically from external data
and the table itself is fine. The formerly working chart, however, has 2
problems:

1) The data range no longer automatically changes with the corresponding
change in size of the pivot table. Each day an additional line of data is
added, however, the range on the chart is static and has to manually be
changed daily. I cannot seem to come up with a format that will work. Here is
a typical range for a series:

Name: 'Pivot Table'!$B$2
Y-Values: 'Pivot Table'!$B$3:$B$211

My question is what format do I use for the Y-Values so that the range
follows the pivot table ('Pivot Table'!$B$3 does not work).

2) The labels for the Y-Axis has a similar problem. My Y-Axis are the dates
corresponding to the above data. However, the dates displayed only go up to
the date when I did the upgrade. After that there are no dates displayed. I
cannot find any settings that let me specify the range of the Y-Axis data.
Indeed, I cannot even find where the specification fo the Axis is. When I
double click that region of the chart, all I can see are various formatting
settings.

Can someone point me in the right direction with these two problems? I
suspect it is just me not knowing where to look for these settings (the
built-in help is virtually useless) as 2008 is quite different then previous
versions.

According to a post in microsoft.public.mac.office.excel:

"Pivot charts are not available in Macintosh Excel."

Well that really sucks. I wonder why it was removed? I guess I need to go
back to the previous version of Office. Thanks for the info.

I wonder why it was removed? <

The PivotChart feature has never been available in Mac Excel.

It was never implemented in Mac Excel X, Mac Excel 2004, or Mac Excel 2008.

I am interested in two things from this inquiry:
1.)gw notes the PivotChart was working at One Time in the Past
2.)mike's reply including Pivot NEVER worked in Excel

so to clarify things, gw, were you using Pivot in Excel?
what release? going back to that release costs you what (terms
of newer-bigger-power features?

i rarely visit here so a personal email would work too ...
