Pings

I was surfing the net. The following day McAfee was
telling me that I was being bombarded by pings, I have
had 180,000 in the first 24 hours.

My question is two fold; is there any danger in all of
this pinging and second, how do I make it stop? I am
operating an XP OS. Thanks.

This is normal Internet background radiation. You are wise to continue
using a firewall to block incoming unsolicited pings, but there is no
point in filling up your logs with the results.

.
the ping in it self is not harmfull,, but , it does say
someone is looking around , most likley other sites
looking to see if your a server .

as far as stopping them,, good luck, but , you can stop
access from hackers with a good firewall. mcaffey works
well

thats all i know
