Pings okay, but can't connect to other PCs

My LAN seems to be working okay among the other computers,
but this one is "invisible" to the others. I can get to
the internet just fine, as can all the other computers. I
can ping all the others successfully, (including the DHCP
and DNS servers), but can't "see" them with "Computers
Near Me." Have been through the Win2000 Help screens with
no success.

I just went through this. We got it working by disabling Netbios over TCP/IP
and installing NetBEUI.
