I have Laptop A and Desktop B networked through a router. A pings A and B,
but B doesn't ping A. Any ideas?

Are you pinging by name, or by ip address? Exactly what error are you
observing?

Please provide ipconfig information for each computer.
Start - Run - "cmd". Type "ipconfig /all >c:\ipconfig.txt" into the command
window - Open c:\ipconfig.txt in Notepad, copy and paste into your next post.
Identify operating system (by name and version) with each ipconfig listing.

The desktop is ics enabled and has a firewall enabled on the dialup
connection, but disabled on the LAN. Both machines run xp pro. Could my
problem be in the router? Would adding another ethernet connection from
desktop to router allow communication? Could the firewall in the router be
my problem?

To connect an ICS server to ICS clients, thru a router:
1) Disable DHCP on the router.
2) Connect the ICS server, and all ICS clients, as peers to the LAN side of the
router.
3) Change the LAN address of the router from 192.168.0.1 to something like
192.168.0.99 (gotta keep it on 192.168.0/24 subnet).
4) Setup any ICS clients to use DHCP for all settings (obtain IP address and
DNS servers automatically).
5) If you're going to do file sharing, either disable ICF on the ICS LAN
connection (not recommended for a wireless router), or open the following ports
in ICF for the LAN connection: TCP 139, 445; UDP 137, 138, 445.
