ping and ipconfig not working

I have a user on a w2k pro machine. He is a member of the
local admin group, but is unable to run ping or ipconfig
from his command prompt. Also tried logging in as the
local administrator and have the same problem. He gets
the following:

'ping' is not recognized as an internal or external
command, operable program or batch file.

He is able to run other dos commands.

- Start a Command Prompt
- Type this command:
path
What exactly do you get? Post the output in your
reply.

By the way, "DOS" is an operating system. There is
no "DOS" under Win2000 - it's the "Command Prompt",
as you mentioned earlier in your post.

Sorry for the delay in this response.

I typed path at the command prompt and saw that c:\winnt
and c:\winnt\system32 were not included in the path
statement. I added these in and everything works fine now.

Thanks for your help!

Jesse
