How do I transfer pictures from a flash drive to word document?

Use the insert feature of Word..

Click on INSERT..

Select the flash drive as the source..

Select the picture to be inserted..

Click on INSERT

When the picture appears in the document, right click on it for actions
possible regarding pictures..

Are you using Word 2003 or Word 2007?

In Word 2003, click the "Insert" menu, then click "Picture" -> "From
File". Browse to the picture you want, and click the "Insert" button.

In Word 2007, click "Insert", then click "Picture". Browse to the
picture you want, and click the "Insert" button.

Okay, now I have inserted the pictures into Word 2003. Thank you. Some pictures have 'red eye'. Can I remove red eye through Vista or do I need special software?

Yes you need photo editing software like Irfanview or Photoshop Elements,
Paintshop Pro etc etc. These would all have ability to remove red-eye from
photographs.
