Pictures into documents?

I have Office 2000 and XP Pro. I can't make any sense of what I'm
experiencing with Word and will appreciate some advice.

I can copy and paste a .jpg into a Word document from Paper Port, but I
can't perform the same action with the same picture from My Documents/My
Pictures, where I have the pictures stored. When I try copying and
pasting from there or from the desktop, all that appears in the document
is a text description of the jpeg in a sizeable box.

What vital step am I missing? Thanks..

G'Day Harold,

Within Word, and with the Insertion Point at the position
where you want the Picture, use the Menu:
Insert>Picture>From File...
Browse to, and select the File
click Insert

Tools, Options, View Tab and clear the Picture PlaceHolders option.

Also, it is far better to use Insert, Picture, From File rather than copy
and paste.
