pictures don't display even if enabled!

The website www.msn.com does not display correctly, some
of the pictures especially the ads below and on the right
of the search bar display only as x. It looks
unattractive but restoring the defaults in 'internet
options' doesn't seem to do anything. This also happens
when I go to hotmail, the ads do not display at all! Like
for example at the home page of hotmail the MSN butterfly
logo (located at the midcenter) doesn't show. I tried
right clicking the 'x' image and clicking show picture
but it won't work. It's not like I want ads to be
displayed all over my browser but I just don't like the
whole interface to look.incomplete. Please help. Thanks a
lot.

This is the usual fix to the red X problem.
Rrename your HOSTS file to OLDHOSTS and then reboot.
To find the HOSTS file go to:
If you have Win 2K/Xp: C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\etc
Or if you have Win 98/ME: C:\WINDOWS
And make sure your computer is set to "Show Hidden Files
and Folders" under Folder Options.

Hope this helps,
Debbie
