pictures and graphics are not displaying in word 2003?

I have tried the response on the KB about inline formatting but to no avail.

Thanks in advance
 
Check the following in Tools > Options > View tab:
Below "Show", "Picture placeholders" must be turned _off_.
Below "Print and Web Layout options", "Drawings" must be turned _on_.

Note that objects created with the Word drawing tools are not visible in
Normal view even if "Drawings" is turned on.
