Picture download to picture taken date folders

Maybe somebody could direct me to a proper newsgroup if this isn't it.

When I download pictures from my digital camera, it stores them all in one
folder. Is there a way that I could download them into folders that it
created by picture-taken date?

Nothing in the operating system. I know Canon has some software that
does this (I don't remember the name, somethingorotherEX).

What is the Make and Modal of the camera ?
What is the name of the "downloading" program ?
What is the name of the program you view them in ?
What is the name and location of the folder they go to now ?

Copy and paste to folders you create?

Windows Live Photo Gallery has an import option to set 'Folder Name' to
'Date' and 'Date range' though I have never used it to import pictures
spanning multiple dates.

Use the standard Windows Scanner and Fax utility. The options will allow
you to specify a Tag. The Tag can be any description you want to enter.
The folder name will be the date of the import plus the tag. The
picture/file names within that folder will be the Tag plus a unique
sequential number. The resultant folders and file names are similar to what
we're used to in XP. I load pictures on both my XP and Vista computers and
achieve the results you're asking for on both operating systems. Post back
if you have any problems.
