Physical Address and Mail Merge

I notice a problem in Outlook 2003 where when multiple lines are entered for
the street address, Word 2003 messes up the merge. I would have something
like this:

Street: XYZ Office
555 XYZ Street

City: Anytown
State: MD
Zip: 55555

On the address field in the contact "card" it looks like this (as expected):
XYZ Office
555 XYZ Street
Anytown, MD 55555

However, when mail merged, Word gets confused and does this:

Name
XYZ Office
555 XYZ Street

Anytown, MD 55555

Is there a workaround??

I think I've tried everything I can think of in the merge to correct the
problem. However, all addresses with two or more lines end up with an
additional return after the last line of the "street". Perhaps you might
have an idea where I would be screwing it up??

What confuses me is that the street address ends up in a single field when
contacts are exported to a file. Can they be entered into separate
fields...ie, BusinessStreet, BusinessStreet2, BusinessStreet3?

if you use the individual address parts and tell word to ignore blank lines,
it will. don't use the address block option.

Thanks for the help! I can get it to work now with a manual address block,
but I'm afraid others would have the same problem with our global contact
list. I wonder if there is a way to get this to work with the address block
option...

The "Street_Address" field looks like this in the Word "select recipients
box" when the merge is made from Outlook:

XYZ Office[][]555 XYZ Street[][]

not with brackets but squares.....a return I assume.... There are no extra
returns after the second line in Outlook.

A single line address would look like this:

555 XYZ Street

Word is not confused. Word only does what you tell it to. You must provide
accurate instructions for Word. Never use a pre-determined address block.
Use the individual address elements as the merge fields and use the
appropriate codes to suppress blank lines. You will find all of those
