Photos are not the same size in thumbnails as in the slide pane

When I insert a photo file into my PowerPoint presentation, it is sometimes
too large for the slide pane, and the thumbnail does not always represent
what is on the slide pane screen. For example, the thumbnail may show only a
small portion of the actual photo.

The thumbnails will only display the area of the actual slide (typically 7.5
x 10 inches), the slide pane will display the area of the slide as well as
the area around it.

Resize the pictures to fit on the slide by clicking on the picture, click on
Format, Picture, Size tab and change the size to less than 7.5 inches high,
10 inches wide. Then move the picture to be fully on the slide.
