PhotoControl ??

Does anyone know where I can get my grubby little hands
on the program PhotoControl.

The official link don't work
http://www.applied-maths.com/paul/PhotoControl.zip
and I can't find a new working link

"PhotoControl is a free, MS Windows application originally designed
for batch processing JPEG files produced by the Nikon D100 digicam,
where users of JPEG mode needed a quick way to boost tone, saturation
and sharpness for multiple images shot under similar conditions.
PhotoControl can be used with other digital cameras or even scans.
PhotoControl or 'PC' was designed to run as a 'black box' application
with minimal user input. PC uses a Profile or preset file which can
apply options such as white balance, tone curve, saturation curves,
and updated proprietary commercial sharpening options originally found
in the SharpControl application (also produced by the same author). PC
also offers the ability to edit images via an interactive means, as an
aid in producing further batch process profiles with different options
and settings or for live edits to a single image."

I found the PhotoControl's author's other free program "SharpControl"
on this page
http://www.retsok.nl/pages/downloads.php

"SharpControl is a free, stand alone MS Windows application for image
sharpening with many advanced functions. SharpControl or 'SC' is based
on a proprietary sharpening implementation found in a commercial image
processing tool for medical applications."

Hi,
I have a copy of this on my harddrive, but I also found this:
http://www.topart.com.au/test/photocontrol.htm

I tried to further install the profiles available at this site by putting
them in the same directory as I have PhotoControl, but still have no option
to use them even after unchecking the auto option.

If you have any direction about the profiles, other than creating new ones
( I'd like to try the original ) please reply.

Thanks!

Hi,

Thank you very much Bill for the link,
that one worked :)

I downloaded PhotoControl (PC) and the profiles from the site,
and I put them in the same directory.

When I started up PC I could see a file selection box
and the profiles under the file selection box.

I selected a image,
I unchecked "Auto Process Images"
and then clicked on the Open button.

I clicked on the button beside (to the right of)
the text "No profile", I selected one of the profiles.
The image changed.

Beside the image there is a colour selector window
That is in fact the "Edit White Balance" window
If you click on the button "Tone curve", "Color Saturation"
and "Image Sharpining" then the window beside the image change,
abd if you click on the "White Balance" button the window change
back to the colour selector window.

I experienced a similar problem when using my (OT) downloader, but got
the entire download when switching to the browser downloader. I then
got a "bad zip file" message when trying to unzip it so I used the
program ZipFixer and the was able to salvaged the complete zip file.
(This message is intended for those who may experience similar
problems).

I came across this one that you may also have an interest in:

Gamma Tweek freeware

Designed specifically for batch processing and color correction of JPEG
images produced by digital cameras. Select a reference image, balance
the colors, process - and all the images in the same folder as the
reference image will receive the same color adjustment and be processed
as a batch and saved with the same file name but in
ReferenceFileFolder\Processed\*.*. Download. about 540kb

Your zip file is 355Kb (362.811Kb)
and the zip file from the site
http://www.topart.com.au/test/photocontrol.htm
(A link that Bill posted)
is 357Kb (365.462Kb) and was good.

Thank you Michael for trying to help me,

Update, I tried to open the file that was 355Kb
with the latest version of PowerArchiver,
and the zip file opened and got extracted without
any errors.
There where 3 files in the zip file,
the exe file and 2 scs files (profile files).

Thanks again :)

Hi,
Thanks for posting!

I remember now why I never tried to use this program, because I could never
get the profiles to register.

I still hadn't, even after again uninstalling and installing, this time with
the profiles found at the site I sent.

I this time though tried one last thing a little different.
Remembering how some very few programs sometimes work only when they are
installed directly into the Windows folder I gave it one last try before
giving up again.

Success!
The profiles now register.

Must have something to do with the fact that I'm still running W98 on a PII
(Dell XPS D333).

So, again, thanks for providing a little momentun for me to figure this end
out!

You have any address to the ZipFixer program ?

Here is a direct download link: The file is only 77 kb and requires no
installation. I think that a few of the unzip programs have this capability
built in, but I prefer this little standalone one.
