Photo Gallery Issues

I am having troubles creating a photo gallery page in FP 2003.
Everytime I try to use the slide show layout, it says it is creating
thumbnails and then it hangs and I have to use task manager to close
out. I also have the same issue occasionally when trying to work
within the dialog box for Photo Gallery. If I try to move pictures up
or down, it hangs. Lots of problems. I am using WinXP. Any ideas as to
what could be causing this. If you need more info from me, please just
ask. I appreciate any assistance any can give.

first try generating a small photogallery...say 10 photos, see if that works.
