When I try to add a photo gallery to a page I get hung up on the "progress dialog" box while it is "generating thumbnails for photo gallery". Anyone have thoughts on this?

Do you have a web open (File Menu | Open Web) first?

Yes, it is an existing web that I'm trying to add the galley to. Previously I just put thumbnails in a table.

But do you have a web open when doing this, and not just a page within the
web?

Yes, I have a full web open. It does this on existing webs and when I create a new web using the pre-set templates. Even if the template has a photo gallery in it (ex. personal web) I have the same problem editing that gallery.

Ok, just want to make sure you had a web open first, so as that could be
eliminated as source of the problem. Many users have indicated similar
problems with using the Photo Gallery. The solution for editing has been to
create a new one, but you are having a problem create a new one. Are you
seeing any error messages?

When I have played around with the Photo Gallery, I didn't have any problems
with add a new one or edit an existing one.

Can you please not snip prior replies, as many folks to do not keep read
messages, and it is helpful to see what the original issue was and to see
any replies.

No error messages at all. I just see the progress bar filled in all the way to the right and then it sits there. When I hit cancel nothing happens. To close the progress indicator I have to click the "x" on that small window then close the photo gallery window. Frontpage then works fine. I've tried leaving it for while thinking that it may take a long time to load (even though I've tested it with just one or two pictures) but when I come back 10 minutes later it is still just sitting there

Optimize your images, before Importing them into FP, then create your photogallery. See if that helps.
