Phantom email

I get new message alert in my toolbar; unopened envelope.
But when I launch Outlook, there is no new mail in the
inbox.

Any ideas, anyone?

Have you checked any other folder, like Delete Items or Junk E-mail?
Perhaps you have a rule deleting the mesage or moving it to another folder.
