On 5/11/2005 I posted a question in this Discussion Group with this same
subject (PGP Signature). Can tell me somebody why I a never got an answer to
this, as I believe relatively simple question? I know that the question is
not necessarily Outlook specific, but I find these PGP Signatures in
Microsoft's Security Bulletins arriving by E-Mail, and I didn't find a better
Newsgroup. I really would appreciate to become some advice how to find an
answer to my question.

PGP is a public key cryptosystem. That means to encrypt a file or mail
message you must know the recipient's public key. The encrypted file or
message can only be decrypted using the recipient's private key and a pass
phrase. This is analogous to a pass word but may include multiple words,
special characters, spaces, etc. Before starting the setup process, think of
a good pass phrase.

"KOrland", thank you for your answer and explanations. In principle I know
what PGP encryption is. But then I ask me how or why does Microsoft add a PGP
Signature to the Bulletins they send to me by E-Mail, while I never published
a public key (I do not know how this is done) nor do I have a corresponding
private key?

Unfortunately that I can't help you with, as I haven't seen the emails you
receive nor do I recall receiving any from Microsoft with that type of
signature that I've noticed. Sorry!

I will give you an example. The subject of the Mail (I subscribed for this
sort of notification): "Microsoft Security Update". The main body of the
messages is normal text with some links to different pages at
http://www.microsoft.com/ and begins as follows:
-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE-----
Hash: SHA1
MICROSOFT SECURITY UPDATE ALERT
April 12, 2005
SECURITY UPDATE INFORMATION ..............

Then two paragraphs before the end of the message a paragraph as this one
follows:
-----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE-----
Version: PGP 8.1

After this some normal text lines and further links, and at the end:
