pfbackup won't install

I am trying to install a newer version of pfbackup. The
installer tells me to uninstall the previous version. I
try, but it can't find a file (pfbackup.msi) and therefore
aborts the entire uninstall process (and I can't get the
new version installed). I searched for the file and it is
not there (it was deleted when I created a new user name).

So how do I make the system understand that the old
version of pfbackup no longer exists?

Thanks!

Have you tried, within OL removing the Outlook Backup Plug In?
Are you actually getting a msg refering to pfbackup.msi?
What version are you trying to install?

I am trying to install pfbackup.exe, released 10/31/03.

I am using Outlook 2003, running on XP Pro.

I recall seeing a way to remove Backup from within OL
before I upgraded to 2003, but I do not see that option in
the menus now.

Yes, the uninstall program opens a window and says it can
not find pfbackup.msi and wants to know the correct path
to get there.

The long version - the org I work for wanted to
standardize everyone's username to a common format - so
mine changed, too. The file the uninstall program is
looking for (pfbackup.msi) was in my old username file
structure - which was deleted some time ago.

Thanks for your help!

Within OL 2K its removal is under Tools/Options/Other/Advanced .....Com
Addins
The actuall file is outbak.dll
If none of the above work you may have to resort to regedit to delete all
entries for the tool

Backup is not listed in the Add-In manager.

So Regedit it is!

Thanks again for your help.
