Personalize Message

I am using Outlook 2003. I have a set up a distribution
list. Now I want to send a message to all in the
distribution list. I know how to do this.

Is there a way I can personalize an this email message to
each person in the distribution list, sort of like a mail
merge.

example:

Dear {firstname field},

Blah, Blah, Blah......

Not without writing custom code or using a third-party mass mailing tool.
Another strike against DLs: If you have a simple contacts folder with all
the desired contacts instead of a DL, you could do what you want with a mail
merge in Word.
