Personal folder shown twice in nav pain

I have a client running Outlook 2003 (11.5608.5606).
When his new computer was setup we replaced the fresh new, blank outlook.pst
file with the copy from his old computer.

Everything is working correctly, but the navigation pain shows 2 identical
"personal folders" and all of the sub folders (inbox, outbox, etc.).

The close personal folders option is grayed out for both sets of folders.

File -> Data File Management shows only 1 pst file & 1 archive file

Tools -> email accounts -> "Deliver mail to the following location" shows
the personal folder listed twice and the archive folder listed twice.

How can I get rid of the second copy of the personal folders?

Thanks

And thereby corrupted the mail profile. Never overwrite one PST with
another.

Two things you can do: one is to create a new mail profile and include the
correct PST (and this is what I'd choose because I find it simpler that the
second choice). See http://www.howto-outlook.com/faq/newprofile.htm . The
other is to remove the damaged PST references from the mail profile in the
registry. See http://www.outlook-tips.net/howto/ghosts.htm

You might want to create a nice fresh profile in the Control Panel's Mail
applet
