personal address book information service missing

i have outlook 2000 sp1 on xp sp1. the personal address book information
service is missing from the list of available information services.

how do i install the service? what type of setup file does it use?

Not even Outlook 2000 used a PAB. Why would you need to?
Only Corp/Workgroup mode of Outlook 2000 supported the PAB Service, and it
did so only for legacy purposes.
What mode are you using?

Then look at your MAPISVC.INF file. Does it reference the PAB?

i don't see a reference the PAB under the [services] section

Well then, that would explain it.
How did that happen?
It will take me a week to find a copy of the lines you need to add to your
MAPISVC.INF file to restore the service. Your version is no longer
supported. Someone else may be able to find it before then. If so, I'll hope
they post it. I only have the lines for Outlook 2003.
