Hiya,

I have my sub folders arranged (the ones that I created) beneath the
Personal Folders icon.

The top most level of the All Mail Folder is called Personal Folders.
Is that right? Is that what it should say? (I think it might have
gotten renamed)

Here's the thing, Both levels of Personal Folders, have inboxes and
outbox drafts and the usual stuff. That seems a little odd to me. that
where my custom folders that made, would have a separate in box and
out box. etcetra etc.

Are they necessary for the PF's if subfolders are present?

Final Q: if I set up a rule, will the incoming from a particular
sender go into a particular folder I create if it is located as a
sub folder of the personal Folder, and not the Inbox?

Thanks for the help,

David

The name shown at the top of the tree is based on the 'friendly name' for
the PST file. You can change it here: Right click on the root of the folder
tree, choose Properties, click Advanced. It defaults to "Personal Folders"
so you can accumulate a lot of those easily. I tend to change mine so I can
keep track of which is which.

Yes, rules will move items to folders that aren't subfolders of the Inbox
folder

It can say anything you want it to say. Right-click Personal Folders,
choose Properties, click Advanced, and enter what you want in the "Name"
field. For Outlook 2002 and earlier, however, no matter what that name is,
Outlook usually displays "Outlook Today", either in addition to or along
with that name for the Personal Folders file designated as your delivery
location.

If ant any point you make a Personal Folders file the delivery location,
Outlook automatically will add the complete set of default folders. If you
never make a Personal Folders file the delivery location, the only default
folder it will contain is "Deleted Items".

They'll always be present in the delivery location Personal Folders file
whether or not you have subfolders. If present in a non-delivery Personal
Folders file because of Outlook's automatic addition of them, they can be
used or not, as you choose, but Outlook won't treat them as special folders,
except that you won't be able to delete them. If you add folders with those
names to non-delivery Personal Folders files, then you'll be able to delete
them if you wish.

Sure. You can even create other Personal Folders files and have your rule
move the messages there. There's nothing special about Inbox's subfolders.
