I am stuck - Vista will not allow me to save a download from Adobe for
Acrobat 7.0 because I do not have permission to save in the My Programs
folder. When I try to change the permissions to my user name in the security
section it will not allow me to do this - the options are "shaded out". How
am I to save the download?

Acrobat 7.0 isn't compatible with Vista, so you don't wanna download it
anyway...

Acrobat 7.0 and earlier versions do not support Windows Vista. Adobe
does not plan to release updates to Acrobat 7.0 and earlier for Windows
Vista compatibility

Can you save any other downloads normally?

As others have mentioned there are known issues with Adobe Acrobat 7 and
Windows Vista. In addition, try downloading and saving to a directory OTHER
than program files (such as My Documents). The program files directory is
protected. When you run an installation program Vista will prompt you to
elevate your privileges so that the installation program can write to the
program files directory.

Save the file to the C:\Users\username\Documents folder. It can be easily
moved from this location to the Program Files folder. The Program Files
folder in Vista is protected, especially when a file is downloaded from the
internet. Don't change the permissions on the Program Files folder, this
could compromise the built-in security and compatibility.
