permissions and rights for multiple users

I am the unofficial network guy at the office. Everyone is on XP Pro and we
are networked on a server running SBS2003. We have 15 users (clients) total.
I have a couple of users who have a bad habit of moving or erasing folders on
the server that we all access, then I have to find and move them back or
restore them from my external hard drive backup. Can I easily keep them from
doing this with setting read and write only permissions for these users? I
cant lock them out of these project folders completely, as they need to be
able to creat or modify documents. But I have to keep them from moving or
deleting folders by accident. Any help is appreciated.

Just right click the folder on which you want to protect, click to
properties & then sharing permissions Simply give the sharing access with
read & write permission for users. And keep the ownship & full access rights
to you only. For this you need a NTFS file system. So that you can manage
security rights on the folders.

Change the permissions on the folders that users should not be able to
delete so that the users do not have delete permissions for folders and
subfolders. You can do that with special permissions and the "apply onto"
choices where users/groups can be listed more than once as shown when you
look at the special permissions of the root/drive folder in a default
install of XP Pro. You could have the users/group listed twice. One for
permissions for folders and subfolders and then again for files only. The
link below explains special permissions more. If they are allowed to create
folders however they will be able to delete the folders they create because
they will be the owner of the folder and the permissions that creator owner
has by default is full control. --- Steve
