permission to configure printerports

I've installed a printserver and set security on each printer so
local helpdesk has permissions to "manage printer" and "manage
documents". This works fine, except if they want to change the
ipaddress of the printerport ("Ports -> configure port" in printer
properties of the printer) they get the errormessage "error occured
while configuring port. Access denied." Of course, I want to give
helpdesk people as less permissions as possible, so what can I do to
give them permissions to configure printer ports? (without giving
them administrator rights on the local server)? Maybe there's
something in the registry I can change to get this in place,

thanks in advance for any help,

I know of nothing in the registry. You might try doing that while logged on as a
power user. If you find that you need to make them local administrators, you can do
things with Local Group Policy to try and restrict what they can do and use auditing
of logon events to monitor their access. Of course ultimately you can not restrict an
administrator if they know and want to grant themselves their administrative rights.
Local Group Policy applies equally to all users. You can lock a computer down and
then access it remotely via mmc Group Policy snapin - other computer/browse to access
the Local Group Policy to modify it if you need to. --- Steve
