I have 2 XP Pro PC networked A and B A can access B. B can see A it can ping
A yet I get a permissions error when I try accessing the shared folders. I
have gone through this forum and set the firewall and TCP It settings. One of
the suggestions was to set the LOCAL SECURITY SETTINGS/LOCAL POLICIES/USER
RIGHT ASSIGNMENT/Access this computer from the network so that EVERYONE as
assigned to A which I have done. Restarted my machine checked this setting
again everything was ok. tried accessing A from B got the same permissions
error. Checked the settings on A and EVERYONE was removed????? Am i missing
something?

namtab, hey... I think I can help you out with this. Since you can ping from
one to another, you can eliminate this being a network problem. Now lets look
at two other items you brought up. Permissions and a possible firewall.
First, lets discount the firewall. Try to see if you can disable it and see
if you can get to the system. You mentioned you set it, not sure if this is a
test network or a production one, I would not block anything at all until you
are able to isolate exactly what the issue is. If still no, then the only
thing left would be permissions. The Local Policy you set, thats not a big
deal, it really sounds like you have a permissions problem. Can you send the
settings of the 'share' permissions on the folder so I can see them in the
newsgroup? Thanks. Hope this help.
