Permanent Columns

I use newspaper style columns alot. How do I get word to always open a new
document in 2 column newspaper style.
 
You really don't want to do that, as it would require modifying Normal.dot
in a way that would ultimately be unhelpful. Instead, create a specific
document template that has two columns and base your new documents on that.
