Performing calculations between two records

I am trying to perform a calculation between a field in
one record and another record. Basically, I have a meter
reading today and a meter reading yesterday, and need to
find the consumption for the day (today's reading minus
yesterday's reading). In an excel worksheet, it would be
B4-A4, then C4-B4, etc for each consecutive day.

Someone please help!! I don't know how to reference
previous records in Access....
