performing a system recovery on a system with service pack1

Dear Sir/ Madam,
My computer is a Microsoft Windows version
5.1(build2600.xpsp2.040919-1003:service pack 1)
I may have to perform a system recovery but I learnt form an article that
one must uninstall service pack 1 before carrying out a standard recovery,or
the other option is to install the "sp/RvryFile.exe. I cannot say if I had
any type of recovery before installing service pack 1 ,should this be a
point to consider.I would be most thankfull for some enlightenment on this
issue.
