Can someone recommend a performance tester for XP, somewhat similar to that
"User Experience" or whatever it's called, that Vista has?

I don't need anything really super-duper. I just want a rough comparison of
two XP computers, one AMD and one Intel.

Vista's "User Experience Index" is nearly useless, in my view. Worse,
it often misleads people.

The problem with software performance measurements is that what they
measure is almost never the right thing. They can't measure the right
thing, because they don't know what it is.

Compare two computers, A and B. A has a faster hard drive, but B has a
faster processor. Which should get more weight by such software
evaluation? If what you do on your computer is mostly disk I/O, you
will find computer A faster than B. But if do lots of Excel
spreadsheet calculations, I will find computer B faster than computer
A.

I recommend comparing computer speeds by your personal subjective
feel. Almost anything else is misleading.

Agreed. They dont measure the apps you use mostly.
