Performance of Windows XP

In my computer, there are 2 OS installed. 1 is XP and the other is Server 2003. The program running speed in Windows Server 2003 is much faster and smoother than it run under XP. Any way to change the setting of Windows XP to make it has better performance on program running speed? I don't want to install any third party software.

XP's graphical interface is resource consuming to some extent. You might
want to disable that: right click my computer -> advanced -> Settings under
Perfomance, and choose "Adjust for best perfomance". You can always go and
undo the settings.
