Performance objects

Hello,
I added the "Base performance counter" component in my XPe image but when I
go into "Performance Logs and Alerts" snap'in and try to add an alert, some
Performance objects are missing. I'm interessed in the "Memory" one but
"Processor", "System", "Cache", "Objects" and paging file are missing too.
How can I access to those performance objects??
Thanks.

Papatchel,

Please add "Performance Counter Configuration" component.

In case you are interested in disk and network counters, you will also have to add "Disk Performance Counter" and "Network
Performance Counters" components.

Thanks KM,

All these components are into my image. All dependencies are Ok.
The default counter log "System Overview Properties" (as the "System
Monitor") contains "\Memory\Pages/sec" and "\Processor(_total)\%Processor
Time" as default, and they seem to work. But if I want to add another
counter, the objects Memory, Processor, etc... are not into the Performance
object combo box.

Help !

Papatchel,

Do you have pagefile enabled?
That would be required to get the Processor counters to work.

KM,

Ok, I've got the desired performance objects once pagefile is enabled.
Therefore, I tried to set the maximum pagefile size to 200Mo (in TD) but it
seems not to work: the file size is 552MB.. and can't be bigger because
there's not enough free space on this disk!

How can I limit the pagefile size ?

Thank you.

Great, it works!

Thank you KM.

We have discussed the XP pagefile limits in this NG in great details.
Please read through this thread, for instance:
http://groups.google.com/group/microsoft.public.windowsxp.embedded/msg/0969bd69cccdad12

Basically you can't create pagefile smaller than 16Mb.

You can always set the pagefile settings under the following key:
[HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Session Manager\Memory Management],"PagingFiles"
