Performance differences between different Vista versions?

Are there any performance differences between the different versions of
Vista? I realize there are probably some between 32 and 64 bit
versions, but other than that, are there? I ask because I've notice
that say, the Ultimate seems to get better reviews than the Business
edition (even based on performance related aspects). I don't know why
that would be, but it appears to be trend.

No. They differ only in their feature sets. Regarding performance,
stability, etc., they are all the same (the same was true of the
various editions of XP).
 
The difference in the versions is only going to be dictated by what you run.
Vista Business & Ultimate run the same by default, usually (apples to
apples). But, if you turn on Dreamscene or other always running feature (or
turn off Sidebar, etc.), you are changing the configuration.

But, side by side default install, they are almost, if not exactly, the
same. Vista Home Basic is the only difference. It doesn't include Aero. But,
turn off Aero in Ultimate with the default install, you should have the same
performance.

The reviews you've seen might be skewed by the fact that those happy with
the cost of buying Ultimate, are also likely to have higher powered machines
to write their reviews on.
 
Thanks for all the replies.

It makes sense that different version would attract different user
groups that use different features and applications. So I can see how
the reviews might vary based on that.


I need to run a 64-bit technical application, and was mainly wondering
if one version might be better for that than anothe. It appears not, so
I'll probably just go with the least expensive option (Business).
