performance decrease and loss of data

Recently ive been experiencing very slow loading times
compared to normal especially when booting up and loading
internet explorer. Also when i load IE, though i have a
1Mbit/s connection, the window frequently appears blank
for several seconds before beginning to load the website.
Finally i am experiencing unexpected loss of data, for
example, i have lost directX9.0b, having just installed
it the previous week. My system seems just generally
unstable, which is strange because it is a new pc and a
good spec one at that.

Let me guess - it's an eMachines, right? If that's the case, good luck when
you call support! But, then, you'd have known their reputation before
purchase, had you done your homework...

That said - have you done a systemwide scan with an up-to-date AVP?

Have you downloaded and run Spybot (www.safer-networking.org)?

Have you called tech support (your system manufacturer's that is, not MS).
You have a warranty - why aren't you exercising your rights?!
