PerfectDsk won't start.

Have been using Raxco's Perfect Disk 7 for some time with no problems.
Now when I start it I get a dialogue box with:

Perfect Disk
Failed to connect to computer "KENNY-NO255EGUG
The service did not respond to the start or control request in a timely
fashion (0x8007041D).
Googling the error came up with a few hits referring to other programs and
different things.
This is a description of the error.

0x8007041D LDAP_TIMEOUT ERROR_SERVICE_REQUEST_TIMEOUT Search timed
out.

In Event Viewer I have a number of Service Control and DCOM errors which
seem to co-incide with the starting PD error.
In Msconfig/Services I have PD Engine and PD Scheduler, manuafcturer unknown
and both of them stopped but I don't see any option to start them. Also I
don't know how these got stopped. If I right the error click then
Properties I get a link to MS support but I can't make any sense out of what
I'm reading.
I'm assuming this is the cause of the error but I don't know how to resolve
it.
Using XP Pro/SP2, have recently updated both XP and Perfect Disk.

Uninstall, then reinstall your PerfectDisk program.

Have you checked the Raxco website for information about this error? If you
can't find anything there and a reinstall of the program does not sort
things out, suggest contacting their tech support.

In Tools/Advanced configuration/general settings
do you have stand alone or networked selected ?

Secondly do a full scan for malware . There is reportedly a virus
masquerading under the name of pdsched, even though that's
a legitimate name of Perfectdisk.
If you do services.msc from the run box and right click
the services, you shlould get the path.. Any other behavior
is suspect.
