per server/per seat??

Hi,

I currently have 40 per server licenses installed, but keep getting the
event id 201, which MS indicate is fixed by changing to per seat.
Am I allowed to do this without purchasing any further licenses?
Can I simply change from Per Server to Per Seat?

All advice appreciated

Do you have cals to allow the amount of users you have
logging on, if you do the you can just change, but be
warned, you cant change back

Well this machine in question is plain old Win2K Server.
To give you more of an idea of what I will need longterm, we have an SBS2000
box that has the standard 50 per server connections allowed.
We are going to be purchasing the upgrade pack that gives us the full blown
Win2K Server, so that all servers are running the same version.
We have 3 servers, so I'm thinking of switching to Per Seat, as am I right
in thinking that I then only need CALS for the amount of machines that use
my servers?
I have licences that show I have purchased x amount of CALS, is this enough?

And when you say I cant change back, why is this?

Thanks
Tommy
