peer to peer

okay i have two computers that i work on the desk top is connected to my lan
at work and i need to connect the laptop to it for easy file movements and
ics also as i sometimes need to use the net on both of them.how do i go about
this

If this is your Work place's LAN, it might be that you can not do these
things since the Desktop is probably part of an already configured Network.
If applies, you should ask the IT people.
