Peer To Peer Networking

I currently have sympatico highspped connected via the USB port. I can't seem
to get the PC"s to connect. Have ran the network setup wiz a million times.
Found an article that stated that peer to peer won't work, have to go back to
using ethernet card for the modem hook-up. Anyone know of a work-a-round for
this??

You can set up a peer-to-peer network between your computers using
either a USB or an Ethernet connection to the Sympatico DSL modem.

If your Sympatico DSL modem has an Ethernet port, I recommend using
that instead of the USB port. Ethernet is more reliable, and it makes
networking the computers and sharing the Internet connection easier.

To use Ethernet:

1. Get an inexpensive broadband router.

2. Connect the DSL modem to its WAN (Internet) port.

3. Connect the computers to its LAN ports.

4. Follow the instructions in the router's User Guide to configure it
to connect to your Sympatico Internet service.

5. Run the Network Setup Wizard on each computer. If the Wizard
detects the router's shared Internet connection, tell it to use that
connection. Otherwise, tell it that the computer connects to the
Internet through a residential gateway.

To use USB:

1. Connect the DSL modem to a USB port on the first computer.

2. Connect the computers to each other, using Ethernet, in one of
these ways:

a. Directly, using a crossover Ethernet cable.

b. Through a network hub or switch, using two regular
Ethernet cables

3. Configure the first computer as an Internet Connection Sharing
host, as shown here:

4. Configure the second computer as an Internet Connection Sharing
client, as shown here:
